Check your ad before it goes live
Drop an HTML5 banner, paste an ad tag or a VAST video tag. HangLine checks its size and weight, HTTPS, missing and broken files, errors, the click, the tracking, the redirects and the landing page, and the video's length and sound. Then it says PASS or FAIL, and exactly why. Free, no sign-up.
Your banner is checked in your own browser and never uploaded. HangLine's server only opens the links, tracking addresses and video files, to see how they answer, and keeps none of them.
How it looks
What this check cannot see
What a banner does after someone taps or hovers on it, how fast it runs on a slow phone (it is measured on this computer), how loud a video is, what is in the picture itself, and how one particular player or ad server treats it. Sizes of files from other servers are counted only when those servers allow it.
See what your ads do on your website
Your landing page is where the click turns into a sale. HangLine's one line on your site counts every visit, cart and order by ad and campaign, and Tracking Health checks that your tags fire on every page.
Where the rules come from
- Google Ads: HTML5 ZIP up to 600 KB and 40 files (HTML, CSS, JS, GIF, PNG, JPG, SVG), the ad.size tag, no files from other servers except Google Fonts and Google-hosted libraries, images up to 150 KB, animation stopped within 30 seconds, GIFs slower than 5 frames a second.
- Campaign Manager 360: ZIP up to 10 MB and 100 files, the clickTag variable spelled exactly so, no % in file names, no localStorage, sessionStorage, indexedDB or openDatabase.
- Display & Video 360 and Ad Manager: 100 files, 5 MB downloaded, 100 calls and 25 cookies at most; click macros ${CLICK_URL} and %%CLICK_URL_UNESC%%, cache-busters ${CACHEBUSTER} and %%CACHEBUSTER%%.
- Google's third-party ad serving policy and Chrome: HTTPS for the ad, its files and its pixels; Chrome removes ads that load more than 4 MB or keep the browser busy for 15 seconds in any 30.
- IAB: display guidelines (15 seconds of animation, 15 file requests, first-load weights by size) and the VAST 4.1 specification (required elements, five wrappers at most, three video qualities); Google asks for at most two wrappers and an MP4.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes, with no account. The file checks have no limit, because they run in your browser; the checks of links, tracking addresses and videos allow 300 calls a day from one connection.
Do you keep my banner?
It never leaves your computer: the ZIP is opened and run in this page, in a sealed frame that cannot see the rest of the site. HangLine's server opens only the web addresses (links, trackers, VAST, the video's first bytes) and keeps none of them. For the daily limit it keeps a count against a code made from your connection, which changes every day; your IP address itself is never stored.
Why "CHECK" and not FAIL?
FAIL means the platform would refuse the ad, the ad would break, or clicks or views would go uncounted. CHECK means it may be fine, but it is worth a look (a guideline, not a rule, or something HangLine cannot be sure of from outside).
Does calling the tracking addresses count a view?
It may count one test impression or view at the ad server, as a preview would. Switch the calls off if you do not want that; the other checks still run.
